External Theme and Element Classes Use

I'd like to build grids and Ajax lists using a bootstrap theme I wanted to confirm that none of the aspnetawesome jQuery/ jS, controls or any other part of the library rely on the 'awe' HTML element classes (ex. class="awe-btn mbtn") ? If not, when are the class names provided required ?

the awesome library uses AwesomeMvc.css file for styling, you can pick between the available themes or copy, rename and edit an existing theme.
