update from awesome 4.9 to latest

Hi! I am currently working on a project using Awesome version 4.9 , I wanna update it to latest version. Also I am using Repository Pattern and hirarchies are implemented by senior developer so how to update and which files are to be replaced? Also please tell me that can I directly update from 4.9 to latest or I have to update to version 5 first then latest version?
