How can I update one cell in the grid row with a value from another cell in the same row

How can use a cell button click event to update a second cell with a modified value of a third cell, all in the same row? Sample scenario Cell 1 (Amount) has value = 50 when the button is clicked apply a Tax of 10%. (Button is in a cell created with new Column { ClientFormat = ApplyTaxFormat, Width = 65, Header = "Action"} ) Cell 2 (TaxAmount) = 10% of 50 = 5 So I want to put a value of 5 in cell 2 after the button is clicked

  your problem can be simplified in 2 steps: 1) how to call the server from a button in a grid row 2) how to update the grid/grid row you can use an ajax request, for example: function act1(id){ $.post('@Url.Action("MyServAction")', { id: id }).done(function(res) { var api = $('#Grid1').data('api'); api.update(id); // refresh only one row //api.load(); // refresh whole grid; }); } and in the Column you can have `ClientFormat="<button type='button' onclick='act1(.(Id))'>act1</button>"` besides ClientFormat you could also use ClientFormatFunc, have a look here for more examples: https://demo.aspnetawesome.com/GridDemo/CustomFormat
